ENDUEMENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Enduement of the Holy Spirit was the provision of the Holy Spirit to only a few selected individuals prior to the Church Age to enable them to perform a special mission.  For example, Moses was endued with the Holy Spirit to enable him to lead the nation of Israel to the Promised Land.  Bezalel and Oholiab were endued with the Holy Spirit to make the furniture and curtains in the Tabernacle (Exodus 37:1; 38:22-23).  Samson was endued with great strength from the Holy Spirit (not his hair), and David was endued with the Holy Spirit, which he lost when he sinned with Bathshebah (Psalm 51:11).

Only a few believers prior to the Church Age were endued with the Holy Spirit.  They were given the power of the Holy Spirit to perform a special mission.  The Enduement of the Holy Spirit was not permanent.  It could be lost, as when David sinned with Bathshebah.  David had to Rebound and pray to receive the Enduement back again.

The Enduement is different from the Filling of the Holy Spirit in the Church Age.  In the Filling of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit empowers and controls the soul of the Church Age believer.  The Filling of the Holy Spirit is available to all Church Age believers.  It is given at the moment of Salvation.  It is lost when the believer sins, and it is regained through Rebound.
