3. The winner over the world is one who wins the
victory over the Cosmic System by the Grace of God.
Overview
1. Jesus
Christ was a winner over the world and so is the believer (1 Jn 5:4).
2. The loser, in contrast
to the winner, is one who is overcome by the Cosmic System (Rom 12:21;
Heb 10:38-39).
3. The winner is on God's
side in Spiritual Warfare (Operation Footstool) in contrast to Satan's
(Heb 1:13; 12:2).
4. Elect Angels support the
winner, while demons support the loser (Heb 1:14; Jn 8:44; 1 Jn 3:10).
5. Winning in the world is
not the same as winning over the world. The winner in the world is
still under Satan; whereas, the winner over the world is under God and
separate from Satan. Thus, there is distinction between rewards from
God and from the world (Matt 6:1-6).
Jesus Christ, the Winner
1. Jesus won the victory on the Cross over Satan and
his Cosmic System (Eph 4:8; Col 2:15; 1 Jn 3:8).
2. In order to win, Jesus Christ had to be the
perfect Mediator between God and man (1 Tim 2:5).
a. To be a Mediator Jesus
Christ had to have the same Divine essence as God and the same human nature
as man (Gal 3:20).
b. To be a Mediator Jesus
Christ had to be perfect, without sin, and separate from the world (2 Cor
5:20; Heb 4:15; 7:26; 1 Pet 2:22; 1 John 3:5).
3. Jesus Christ overcomes the world (Rom 3:4; Rev
5:5; 17:14).
4. The world hates Jesus Christ and the believer
(Jn 15:18-25; 17:14; 1 Jn 3:12-13).
5. Satan rules the world (Jn 12:31; 1 Jn 5:19).
The Winner Believer
1. The winner believer overcomes
the world (Jn 16:33; Rom 8:37; 2 Cor 2:14; 4:7ff; 1 Jn 4:4; 5:4; Rev 2:7,
11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21; 12:11; 21:7).
2. The winner believer must
be sanctified from the world in order to win the victory over it.
Sanctification requires:
a.
Rebound (1 Jn 1:9)
b.
Separation from the world (Isa 31:1; Jer 17:5; 2 Cor 6:17; 1 Jn 2:15)
c.
Knowledge of Bible Doctrine (Jn 17:17; Rom 12:2; Eph 5:26).
3. The winner must receive
the victory in Grace (2 Cor 12:9).
a.
The winner cannot promote himself (Matt 23:12; Lk 14:11; 18:14).
b.
The battle is the Lord's, and the victory belongs to Him (1 Sam 17:47;
2 Chron 20:15).
c.
Popularity, human strength, and worldly success are not the criteria for
determining a winner (Hos 1:7; Zech 4:6; 2 Cor 12:9; 1 Cor 2:5; Phil 4:13).
4. Fellowship with God is
the power against the counterattack from the Cosmic System (Jas 4:7).
a.
Father (2 Cor 12:9-10; Eph 6:13).
b.
"Power of Christ" (1 Cor 1:24; 5:4; 2 Cor 12:9; Phil 3:10; Heb 12:2).
c.
Filling of the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:1-16; Gal 5:16; 1 Jn 4:4).
5. The ultimate test of the
winner is to face the test of going to the Cross (Rom 8:36-37; 1 Cor 15:57;
Gal 2:20; Eph 5:25).
6. The winner is promoted
through stages of Spiritual growth (1 Jn 2:13-14) to Spiritual Maturity
(Eph 4:13; Heb 6:1) and Spiritual Rapport (Rom 15:29; Eph 4:13).
7. Satan can be defeated
by the winner believer (1 Jn 2:13-14; 5:18).
Rewards for the Winner Believer
1. Rewards for the winner believer
include blessing for Time (Deut 11:26-27; Psa 1:1-3; Rom 9:23; Eph 1:18;
3:8, 16) and Eternity (Rom 8:16-17; Eph 2:7; Col 3:24; 1 Pet 1:4).
The loser will receive cursing (Deut 11:28; Phil 3:18-19; 2 Pet 2:12-22).
2. There will be great difference
in status in Heaven between loser and winner believers (Matt 5:19).
a.
Losers will be very Happy (Rev 21:4), but will lose their rewards (Matt
6:1-6, 16-18; 10:42).
b.
Winners will receive great rewards and distinction, which glorifies God
(Lk 6:23, 35; 1 Cor 3:8-15; Heb 10:35; 1 Pet 1:8; 2 Jn 8).
c.
Losers will be ashamed at the Evaluation Throne of Christ (1 Jn 2:28),
but winners will not (2 Tim 2:15; Phil 1:20).

Priesthood of believer (1 Pet 2:5, 9; Rev 1:6)
