The Babylonian Empire was established by tyranny and violence. Nations were conquered. The people were slaughtered and the cities looted and plundered (Hab 2:7, 8). The leaders of Babylon were empowered by Satan. The military leader was an Evil King, and the civilian government was under the Power of the Prostitute of Babylon. Satan gave them success through his evil power (Hab 2:9). The religion of Babylon was the worship of Satan through idolatry.
Babylon was the great symbol of Satan's power and might. It symbolized his rulership of a vast army of demons known as the Cosmic System. In spite of all its glory, however, Babylon was doomed because it fell under the curse of the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen 12:3). Those who curse Israel will be cursed. No nation has ever attacked Israel and survived.
The fall of Babylon in 539 BC was one of the major events in the history of the world. Not only was the first and greatest empire of the world conquered but the fall of Babylon symbolized the ultimate defeat of Satan's Cosmic System. That will occur at the Second Advent when Satan and his demons will be conquered and incarcerated for a thousand years before being thrown into the Lake of Fire (Matt 25:41; Rev 20:2, 3, 7, 10).
At the Second Advent the great cry will be heard as predicted by Isaiah and Jeremiah, "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great" (Is 21:9; Jer 51:8; Rev 14:8; 18:2). The fall of the Kingdom of Babylon in 539 BC symbolized the fall of Satan's Cosmic System at the Second Advent. The fall of Satan's Cosmic System means he has lost his appeal trial. He has been defeated by Righteousness and Truth, and he will be Judged in the Lake of Fire forever and ever.
The Sun was in Libra for sovereign authority (Dan 5:26-28). Babylon was the sovereign world ruler, but it was weighed in the balance and lost its sovereignty to Cyrus. The Savior Planet was also in Libra for being rescued, corresponding to the rescue of the Jewish captives in Babylon.
The Moon was in Taurus for the royal court of King Belshazzar (Dan 5:9). Also in Taurus was the Almighty God Planet for a world empire (Babylon).
The Last Adam was in Cancer for scourging.
Isaiah 21:10 Israel ThreshedThreshing refers to crushing Judgment (Jer 51:33; Mic 4:12-13). Israel is the threshed one. It has been crushed by the Lord from Babylon to destroy the chaff and redeem the remnant.
O my threshed one, and child of my threshing floor!
What I have heard from the LORD of the Armies, the God of Israel, I have declared to you.
The Redeemer Planet was in Leo for a king redeemer, corresponding to Cyrus.
The Morning Star was in Virgo for (Jewish) believers.
The Mediator Planet was in Scorpius for the deceiver (Satan, Rev 12:9).
The Red Planet was in Aquarius for the suffering of a flood, corresponding to the invasion of the Army of Cyrus.
Isaiah 21:7 Watching for the Persian ArmyThe lookouts watching for the arrival of the Persian Army in Babylon would see a column of cavalry two abreast. The column of horsemen in pairs symbolizes a flood, since animals entered the Ark two-by-two. Pairs symbolize a witness and the Army of the Medes and Persians, corresponding to the silver breast and arms of the statue seen by Daniel (Dan 2:32).
When he sees riders, horsemen in pairs,
Riders on donkeys, riders on camels,
Let him pay close attention, very close attention.
Isaiah 21:9 Fall of BabylonThe cavalry of Cyrus conquered the Army of Babylon. The cry that echoed far and near was, "Fallen! Fallen! is Babylon." This is also the meaning of the God of the Covenants in Aquarius for a bearer of good news. This was the good news of the fall of Babylon.
Now behold, here comes a cavalry, horsemen in pairs;
And it lifted up its voice and said,
"Fallen! Fallen! is Babylon!
And all the images of her gods are shattered on the ground."
Shattered images means the defeat of the demon gods that protected Babylon (Is 46:1; Jer 50:2; 51:44). Cyrus did not destroy the images upon conquering Babylon. He even restored them to their rightful locations. However, in 484 BC Ahasuerus (Xerxes) (ruled 486-465 BC) melted down the golden statue of Bel (Marduk, Merodach) after revolts had broken out the year before.
Thus, one of the great events in world history was mapped in the heavens to match the events on Earth.
